MS 150 Ride |

OK , I find it rather interesting that people can show kindness simply by knowing someone could use it . For the past couple months now I've been struggling with the loss of the use of my legs because of my Multiple Sclerosis, and then one day a good friend of mine Bob called me up and invited me to lunch . Bob and I are both avid The West Wing fans, that is how we met, so naturally I accommodated Bob and decided to have lunch with him on one of my days off . That is when Bob laid the big bombshell on me, he told me that Claire Bilby, the Senior Vice President in charge of Sales and Marketing for the Disneyland Resort had instructed him to meet with me. He then laid the second bomb on me, he told me that any participant that works for Claire riding in the MS 150 will be riding on my behalf! Naturally I was very surprised and didn't know what to say. Bob then preceded ask to me about my condition in the history of my life with Multiple Sclerosis . We talked about everything from my first symptoms, my challenges, and my diagnosis . Bob and I had a great lunch . Then he showed me a sample of what was going to go out internally to a lot of the people in our company. It was a four page article all about me and my MS, they had asked Cast Members to support me. Naturally I was flattered and I accommodated Bob in every way imaginable to help him finish his article successfully. I even answered ten casual questions about myself, mainly pertaining to my likes and dislikes.
After about a week Bob had sent me a sample of the article he had wrote . The article was about four pages long and very very inspiring. After reading it I thought to myself "Wow, the guy in this article is really an interesting guy". For a brief moment I had forgotten the article was entirely about me and my life . Bob was being very complementary to me in article and even made me sound like an inspiration. Anyone that knows me knows I can be a bit short, brash, and sarcastic. A few people I work with joke around about how I am the exact clone of Chandler Bing on the television show Friends. Chandler is my favorite character on the show so I really have no argument to claim that I am not at all like him . So this article really made me apprehensive about people reading it and saying "That's not Kris, he's nothing like that". Then after having a few close friends are read the article I became more comfortable with more people reading it. After reading it over, the majority of my close friends were saying that Bob really nailed me to a T. All the comments were more about how well it was written and how close the writer had gotten to depicting the type of personality or the person I am. So I leave this message to Bob, my friends all think you're a great writer and you did an excellent job of showing people who I really am. I may not feel like such an inspiration, however I would like to send you a thank you very much for all the nice things you said about me in this article. For all of you that want to read the article I've attached the file at the bottom of this page. OK, now it's down to business I have some things to take care of. There are a few riders on the MS 150 that are riding on my behalf and I would like to share their links with you so you can possibly go online and sponsor them in this great ride. Just to fill you in this is a ride from Huntington Beach California to San Diego California, a total of 150 Kilometers . Without the kindness of people like you my Mother and myself are one step closer to finding a cureto this devastating disorder . I would just like to say I've never felt such generosity ever in my 30 years life . I'm still in awe of the kindness you and the Walt Disney Company has shown by supporting this ride. I will see you on October 8 to help all the riders quench their thirst at the first water stop sponsored by The Walt Disney Company. |
